Bring a Load to Our Salvage Yard
If you can fit your scrap load into the back of a pickup or trailer, you can bring it directly to our salvage yard! We have two locations in Alberta: Wainwright (110 km southwest of Lloydminster) and High Prairie (198 km northeast of Grande Prairie). We accept all types of scrap metal at our yard, from farm tools to appliances. You don’t have to worry about disassembling and separating the metals in your scrap; we will do it for you!
While this method may involve a bit of a drive, you’re doing more than recycling metal: you also get to make a few bucks on the side!

How to Sell Your Scrap at McSteel:

- Weigh in your truck or trailer load of scrap on our calibrated scale
- Drive your scrap to our designated area (we’ll help you unload!)
- Do a second weigh-in to determine the full weight of your scrap metal
- Our team will assess your load and offer you a payout based on current market rates. You get to drive home with the cheque!
Need Transport? Use Our Rail Car Service
If you have a lot of scrap to haul out, but lack adequate transportation, take advantage of our railcar services, offered through our South location.
Our team is fully trained and certified via the CN Rail (Canadian National Railway) to ensure your scrap is transported safely. We can set up rail services anywhere in Canada, whether you’re a short train ride in Alberta or across the country!
